Assistant Trainer: Robin O’Ryan

Robin joined us as Assistant Trainer in December 2005 and we have never looked back. To say he is an invaluable member of the team would be an understatement! Robin takes over the reins in Richards’s absence and is a familiar face at both the races and the bloodstock sales.

Monty

Monty is quite simply brilliant! He has been part of the team since September 2006 and his experience and input is invaluable. Monty does medications, prepares special feeds and works with the yearlings during the very early stages of breaking. He has an ‘eye for a good’un and has an uncanny knack of pinpointing the best 2yo for the forthcoming season within the first 10 minutes in the lunge ring!

Barn Managers:  Con Foley, Cheryl Mitchell, John Carr & Aly Deniel

Con, Cheryl and Aly are all experienced team members who have been with us for some time. John joined the team in 2011 and is a valuable addition bringing with him an abundance of knowledge. Together they ensure nothing gets missed during ‘evening stables’. The smooth running of ‘evening stables’ is just as important as morning training as this is when legs are checked and medications ministered.

Travelling Team: Graham Steel, Craig Lidster & Alyson Deniel:

Graham, Craig and Alyson make up the senior travelling team and are responsible for the horses once they leave Musley Bank Stables. It is of the utmost importance that we have members of staff familiar with our horses travelling with them ensuring a comfortable journey with minimal stress, subsequently anything amiss will be immediately apparent.

Farriers: Troy, Ben and Mike

We have three very good Farriers with the patience and skill required for working with thoroughbreds which is vital with the number of horses here at Musley Bank Stables. With our own onsite forge we like to think our hoof management is second to none.

Office:

Mandy Corner: (Below left)

Mandy is our full time secretary and has been with us since 2004. She does an amazing job keeping everything organized and she has multi-tasking down to a tee! Mandy is most likely the friendly voice on the end of the phone when you call.

Anna Hanagan: (Below centre)

Married to Paul our stable jockey, Anna joined us in July 2004. Anna rides out and works part time alongside Mandy in the office.

Pip Tutty: (Below right)

Pip rides out in the mornings and works in the office in the afternoons assisting Mandy with whatever is priority that particular day. A keen and competent rider Pip also rides in amateur races and point to points whenever the opportunity arises.

Training racehorses requires a dedicated and experienced team and we are very lucky to have just that here at Musley Bank Stables.
